quite的用法

1、quite与一些表示“完整”、“完全”的意思的词或词组如all right，certain，determined，empty，finished，ready，right，sure，wrong等连用，或与一些具有强烈感情色彩的形容词、副词如amazing，extraordinary，horrible，perfect等连用时，它的意思是“完全地”、“全然地”。

The bottle was quite empty．瓶子全空了。

You're quite wrong．你完全错了。

2、着重于表达某事是正确的，而很少强调“很，非常”的意思

I felt quite bitter about it at the time.

当时我对这件事感到相当怨愤。

I was doing quite well, but I wasn't earning a lot of money.

我干得还算不错,可是挣的钱却不算多。

I quite enjoy living here.我挺喜欢住在这里。

3、着重强调说的内容，“非常; 相当，很”

It is quite clear that we were firing in self defence.

事实很清楚,我们开枪是出于自卫。

I can state quite definitely it will be terrible.

4、用于否定句中

Something here is not quite right.

这里有什么地方不太对劲。

That wasn't quite what I meant.

5、作限定词，修饰名词强调这个名词令人印象深刻或不同寻常

It's quite a city, Boston.

波士顿是一个相当好的城市。

5、作副词，常在口语中表示“确实如此”，同某人的观点

And if you buy the record it's your choice isn't it.'—'Quite'.
